PHILOSOPHY
Meg Flynn, LMFT, is the Counseling Director at New Directions Counseling & Training, Ltd. New Directions is an organization committed to creating holistic opportunities for growth, transition and healing transformation. The counseling professionals at New Directions work with individuals, couples and families to create the conditions that interrupt old and limiting patterns, and make way for happier and healthier individual and family relationships. Our professionals approach every client with care, compassion, and belief in the unlimited creative possibilities for change.
Our professionals use a strength-based, whole person and family systems approach to understand the obstacles to positive and integrated growth and development, and to identify the inherent strengths and unique capacities of every client. It is our belief that life challenges and struggles are part of the normal process of personal evolution, and that these events present opportunities for growth and development. We work to allow our clients to integrate all parts of themselves - physical , emotional, mental and spiritual - on a healing path that is unique for each client, and that brings their highest potentials into expression in their personal development, their relationships, their families, and their work in the world.
SERVICES
- Individual Counseling
We provide spiritual-emotional counseling for issues of anxiety, depression, grief and loss, family of origin, chronic illness, adolescent emotional health, adult emotional growth, and personal coaching for vocational and professional success.
|
- Couples Counseling
We provide relationship counseling focused on all aspects of partnering relationships. We work with couples that are working to form and establish healthy partnerships with clear communication and conflict resolution skills, and with couples in long term relationships that are facing the challenges of illness, loss, infidelity or divorce. We assist clients in identifying old patterns that interrupt their relationship and in developing practices which deepen intimacy and connection.
|
- Family Counseling
We work with whole family groups to build on family strengths and to identify patterns which limit the support, connection and joy in family systems. We work with families of all ages and with adult sibling groups, as well as family-owned businesses.
- Personal Coaching
We provide personal and professional coaching to help clients identify the issues and obstacles that are interfering with their personal or professional success, and to develop action strategies to move forward in the achievement of their goals. Coaching can be particularly useful at times of significant change and transition to assist clients in developing the insight they need to navigate the changes using their inherent gifts and strengths. We offer Four Color Coaching Sessions using personality types to jumpstart your insight into challenges and opportunities in your life based on the color of your personality.

POLICIES
When you schedule an appointment with one of our professionals, we will ask you to complete an intake form providing relevant physical, emotional and family history. Forms can be sent out to you in advance or completed by coming a few minutes prior to the scheduled intake session. Intake sessions are 75 minutes and will be used to gather information, identify issues, and provide information about the counseling process.
If the client chooses to engage in the counseling process a plan is made with the therapist and subsequent sessions will be scheduled one time per week or as necessary based on the client's needs. Counseling sessions are typically 50 minutes, although longer sessions may be appropriate at times, particularly with family groups.
New Directions is a private practice and is not a direct provider for any insurance companies. While we do not process insurance claims, our clients with mental health insurance coverage are often eligible for non-provider or out-of-network reimbursement under their policies. Clients pay for their sessions in cash, check, or with Visa/Mastercard at the time of each session and are provided with the necessary information to provide to their insurance company for reimbursement of any covered expenses.
All of our services at New Directions are confidential and each client will be asked to review and sign a confidentiality policy. If you wish for us to consult or coordinate with other service providers (medical practitioners, attorneys, schools, therapists or outside agencies) we will obtain a release to communicate with those parties.
You may contact our office to schedule an appointment with our professionals. We ask our clients to respect our scheduling policy by keeping appointments or calling 24 hours in advance in the event of a cancellation. No-shows will be billed for 75% of the session. Repeated no-shows will not be rescheduled unless they have made specific arrangements with their therapist.
